Elevate your wardrobe this winter with layers, colours and textures to create bold new looks.
To help you style statement pieces, we’ve partnered with fashion expert Sneza Jovanovic, creator of the hit Instagram account, @mums_style_diary. We sat down and talked daily style inspiration and tips on this season’s trends.
Describing her own style as “sophisticated, edgy and chic”, Sneza has shared her top five winter trends this year and how you can wear them with confidence.
Bold colours are back
Bright pops of colour are here to stay this winter, providing a fun way to infuse personality and individuality into your daily outfits.
“This winter, lift your wardrobe with bold colours,” says Jovanovic. “Don’t be afraid to experiment and combine different colours rather than just choosing one statement piece. Try combining a beautiful green dress with a bright orange clutch, or pair hot pink pants with a red top. Have some fun with your palette!”

Oversized items are in
As the temperature drops, so do new lines of coats, jackets and jumpers. Each one has the ability to transform an everyday look, while keeping you fashionably snug during the cooler months.
When it comes to oversized options, Sneza says the options are endless, “Think blazers, shackets, coats, trench coats, and aviator Jackets. These layering pieces can give a sense of sophistication, perfectly elevating and completing any look.”
Country Road and Sussan have great ranges of versatile outerwear, while Jacqui E and Just Jeans will help keep you warm with their oversized Sweater.
Sparkly, shimmery and sequined fabrics are having a moment, helping you bring more flair to your wardrobe. Use this trend to boost your looks on special occasions.
Sneza explains, “This trend is great for getting you out of your comfort zone and helping you create that statement look for events like parties, weddings and dinner dates. We are seeing mixes of metallics, shimmers and sequined fabrics, all which can be paired with a plain top, black pants or simple heels to ensure you steal the spotlight at your next event.”
If you don’t know where to start on your electric journey, pop into Supre and Myer to check out their range of shiny apparel.
Black tonal outfits
When it comes to men’s fashion, black is timeless. It can class up almost any look, from weekend to brunch to casual. Saturday to evening to cocktail. This versatility comes down to the different styles and fabrics you choose. Staples like black blazers and boots can be dressed up with black slacks and turtlenecks or dressed down with black ripped jeans and beanies.
According to Sneza, black outfits have heaps of potential, “There are so many options and ways to shake up the all-black look. You can add layers, mix textures and fabrics, or go really simple. It seems that classic black has already become the colour of the season!”

Loungewear has never been so luxurious, with people all over the world embracing effortless housewear. Something as simple as trackpants can be enhanced with the right blazer or hat, while a shacket and sneakers can round out the perfect easy, breezy weekend look.
Sneza believes the trick to nailing your loungewear look lies in the accessories, “Chunky jewellery, sunglasses, bags and boots can breathe new life into your at-home look. Having the right selection of accessories can give any loungewear set a multitude of bold seasonal looks.”
When it comes to pulling these trends together, Sneza credits great style to strong basics, “Create a foundation wardrobe by getting staple pieces that you'll be able to pair with standout items. Once you have the basics, the rest is easy to mix and match. Some failproof winter must-haves are jeans, blazers, trench coats, tank tops, tees, knits, leather look pants, sneakers and boots.”
